During a student’s Art rotation, he/she will experience both two-and three-dimensional media. This includes drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, and sculpture. Appropriate aspects of Art history and cultural perspective, aesthetics, and critiques will be presented along with studio assignments.

Want to be part of Spring Stations award winning national champion band? Membership is open to any student who wishes to learn and expand their knowledge of playing a typical school band instrument. These instruments include flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, tuba, baritone, French horn, and percussion. Students earn the foundations that will ensure their success as future band members such as learning to read music, producing a good tone, assimilating music history and theory, and playing and performing individually and as a group. The band traditionally performs a Winter and Spring Concert. Students who are achieving at a high level are also encouraged to participate in a Solo and Ensemble Festival. Students are expected to practice individually in preparation for class and to attend all performances.

Students will learn about online safety, how to properly use Google Suite, keyboarding, beginner block coding, as well as how to use a variety of online web tools.  All grade levels will create their own website to showcase their work throughout the semester. 

Global Perspectives is a course structured to give the student an understanding of current issues in many areas of a political, social, and economic nature. Students will conduct research on current event topics using reliable websites and other sources. Analysis of informational texts will be used to enhance the writing process used in English/Language Arts and Social Studies classes.

The Spring Station Orchestra offers beginning and continuing classroom instruction on the violin, viola, cello, and upright bass. Students learn all the basics from making sounds on the instrument to expanding their musicality, as they progress through the program. During the school year, the orchestra performs combined concerts with the Summit High School Orchestra.

The Robotics program at Spring Station Middle uses the Engineering Design Process to develop students’ critical thinking and problem solving skills, while also improving their ability to communicate and work with other students.

Throughout the course, students program their robots to complete a variety of tasks, using simple commands and input from the robot’s sensors.  At the end of the course, students will complete a final project which encompasses all the material covered.

Spring Station offers introductory Spanish as well as Spanish 7A and 8B. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary for beginner Spanish. In this course, students learn the basics and become comfortable reading, writing, and speaking in Spanish. They will also learn Spanish grammar and pronunciation, as well as culture, history, geography, and the arts.

Spanish 7A and 8A focus on the development of communicative competence in the target language and understanding of the culture(s) of the people who speak the language. Through consistent and comprehensible exposure of grammatically correct language, students develop an “ear” for language. Upon successful completion of both Spanish 7A and 8B, students will earn one high school language credit and may enroll in Spanish 2 as a ninth grader.

Theatre focuses on creative expression through theatrical performance and design. Students will become skilled at employing acting techniques, movement and body control, proper vocalization methods, and the development of characters from different periods and styles of drama. Students will explore historical and cultural studies in Theatre.

The Physical Education program provides each student with the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive program consisting of skill development, team sports, and physical fitness activities. The students receive instruction in rules, skills, and strategies associated with the different sports as well as learning experiences involving physical conditioning activities. The students will also have opportunities to become involved in life-long physical activities through individual sport units. The program promotes the spirit of cooperation, leadership, fair play, and friendly competition.
